Caitlin's Monkey News
2007 2006 2005 2004

September 18, 2007 - Caitlin is technically 3 years 7.5 months... But, this entry will serve as her 3.5 year update!! ;)
Caitlin has been writing most of her uppercase letters for several months now and has learned what they all "say."  Over the last two months though she has been sounding out words and can even read over half of her "Dick and Jane" book. She recognizes a lot of words by sight now, but does a good job figuring out the others.  Thanks to a song in preschool last spring she knows all of her days of the week and their order.  She enjoys seeing how her schedule fits into these days.  For example she tell you that on Monday, Wednesday and Friday she goes to school.  Tuesday she has gymnastics.  Daddy doesn't have to work on Saturday (or Labor day! ;)) and Sunday is church.
She loves playing games, especially Disney Memory, which gives her plenty of practice at counting when tallying the score.  She can now count to 29 and is starting to grasp the base 10 concept.  (thanks Brad)  Her favorite "game" to play with Camryn is "Megan and Nolan"  Caitlin is Megan and Camryn is the husband, Nolan.  :)  While they are in character they are grocers, beauticians, teachers (for both preschool and church), driving the car, and also parents to Elmo and the other dolls (their names change everyday so I can't list them).  Since its been warm (ok, really hot) all summer, there has been plenty of time for outside things as well.  She has been riding her bike (with training wheels) for a while now, and is getting much better.  She can almost make it up a big hill near our house and tries to do tricks like the older kids she sees.  We bought her a baseball glove (once again, because she wanted to be like the older kids) and she has done surprisingly well at learning to catch ground balls.  Lastly, she LOVES going to the pool, and is making progress at using her arms and legs to stay afloat.  She is still nervous about jumping off the side, but the last time we went she jumped in all by herself.  Since this might have been the last time we go this season, we are hoping she won't lose her nerve over the winter.
Caitlin started gymnastics a few weeks ago and seems to really enjoy it.  We tried to take a couple pictures, but they didn't turn out well.  Hopefully we will be able to get some better ones soon because she is really cute!

July 2, 2007 - Caitlin is a big sister yet again!  Today we took her over to our next door neighbors house to play while we took Mommy back to the doctor.  She knew Mommy had a baby in her belly, but we didn't tell her that she was about to arrive, because we didn't want to worry her.  Its a good thing, because we never made it to the doctor, and she might have been scared to see the EMS show up at our house!  We came back and got her later that night after things had settled down to meet her new sister.  She was disappointed we hadn't named her Christen (or at least Cukaduka or Cinderella) but she was thrilled to have another sister.  She wanted to hold her the whole time and was very interested in nursing time as she was with Camryn. She is very protective of Cassidy, and always makes sure her blanket is around her and that Camryn is careful.  Hopefully she doesn't get jealous of all the attention our friends and family show the new baby!

February 5, 2007 - Being 3 isn't easy, especially since it requires a visit to the pediatrician. :(  We have hyped up what a big deal it is to be 3 to Caitlin.  She told me that she would NOT cry at the doctors today because she was 3 and didn't have to get a shot.  When the nurse took her blood pressure her story quickly changed...  She wanted to go home right then, but obviously we couldn't, plus we still had to see the doctor.  Caitlin eventually calmed down and once her check-up was over she politely asked the Dr. for a sticker for her and Camryn. Always thinking of her sis!  Anyway, Caitlin weighed 32 lbs and was 38 inches tall.

February 1, 2007 - Caitlin had her first real birthday party today at Build-a-Bear.  Most of her friends were able to make it, despite the prediction of snow and ice for the day. She enjoyed stuffing her red bear, and dressing it in red from head to toe (can you guess what her favorite color is?) Since Ariel is her favorite Disney princess, we went with that for a theme, complete with an Ariel cake, Ariel balloons, and Ariel plates and napkins. After building the bears,  we all went to the food court and ate pizza and cake, then the kids played in the play area while we cleaned up :) Caitlin had a great time!

January 31, 2007 - Caitlin turned 3 today, and she is happy to be there. She has promised us she is going to cry less and be a big girl, so we'll see if things magically improve :) She is very independent, and enjoys picking out her own clothes in the morning, playing preschool level board games, and watching her Disney movies. She recognizes all her upper and lower case letters, and knows things that start with most of the letters. She can also hear a word and guess what it starts with. She is starting to be able to write her letters, and can write her name with a little help. She loves singing, and knows all the words to lots of Sunday school type songs, as well as some kids songs from her CD's. Its interesting to hear her sing songs she learns at church because she is the only one who knows the words! We are so proud of her and can't wait to see what the next year holds!

January 3, 2007 - Today was Caitlin's first day of preschool!  I had contemplated sending Caitlin to preschool last August, but neither of us were ready!  But, Caitlin has matured so much in the past 6 months that I felt that the time was now right!  We toured the preschool in November and with the Director's help we decided that Caitlin would be better suited for the 3's class, versus the 2's class mostly due to her letter knowledge/understanding and being potty trained.  Plus, Caitlin just seemed to fit in better with the 3 year olds even though based on the school calendar she should technically be in the 2 year old class.  Caitlin later told me that she would definitely enjoy going to the preschool a couple of days a week.  So today, we packed a lunch and got her backpack ready and headed to school!  She was hesitant about going into the classroom at first, but she talked to her new teacher and gave me a hug and kiss goodbye!  When I picked her up she said she had a good time and wanted to go back next week!  Here's a peek at the obligatory first day of preschool picture!

November 25, 2006 - Caitlin announced to the world today (or our family anyway) that we are expecting again!  We had told her for the past month or so, and this trip in for Thanksgiving we told her all weekend to tell the grandparents.  Finally today she blurted it out.  Once the initial shock wore off everyone was happy of course.  Caitlin thinks "newbaby" will be a girl, and we should call her "C".  Although that might end up being the first letter, I think we will add a few more ;)  You can be expecting a section of the website soon dedicated to "newbaby", and all the bellyshots and ultrasounds you might expect.

November 9, 2006 - We finally decided to cut Caitlin's hair for the first time, since it had been getting out of control since she was about 12 months old.  We took her to a JJ's Kids Cuts, where they had special chairs and a TV screen, and the kids got to pick out a movie to watch while they got their haircut.  Caitlin picked Cinderella or course, since that is her favorite movie.  We had expected her to get upset, but she made up her mind that she wasn't going to, and she did fine.  Her haircut looked great, and made her curls stand out.  Almost made us wish we had done it sooner... almost...

June 14, 2006 - We can all relax until Caitlin is 6 years old!  Well, at least concerning any new teeth that she may get. :)  Both of the girls had a fever today, so Brad checked Caitlin's mouth to see if maybe new teeth were causing the problem.  Turns out that all four of her 2 year molars are now in, but they aren't the cause of her fever.

April 3, 2006 - Apparently Caitlin got a new tooth without us ever really noticing. :) Brad was brushing her teeth a few nights ago and saw that about half of her bottom left 2 year molar was in. She hasn't been overly cranky or anything, so that's good I guess. Unlike Camryn who's two bottom teeth are technically in. She has been screaming bloody murder over hers. ;)

March 28, 2006 - Since Caitlin's second birthday there haven't been any huge milestones, no new teeth or anything, but she has been learning many new things that deserve mention. Her speech and understanding has greatly improved, and she is learning new words and phrases every day. She continually amazes us by dissecting phrases and making her own sentences, most of which make sense. She also uses this skill to sing along with her CD's and videos. She is a big help with her sister, and always wants to nurse, change, and carry her, but she obviously needs help with these. She is a normal 2 year old though, complete with fits, stubbornness, and choosing not to listen. She will finally admit when she is tired though, which we thought she would never do. Physically she has learned to use a stepstool, and carries one  around if she need to reach something higher like the sink or a light switch. She has also learned to pedal her tricycle, but she is still working on steering. Maybe once the weather warms up and she has more practice...

February 1, 2006 - Caitlin turned 2 years old yesterday!!  We celebrated her birthday with Grandma Wright, Grandma and Grandpa Russell and the Mitchells.  There was even a cake resembling Elmo there. ;)  She certainly acts like she is 2 and has for a few months now, including throwing terrible fits.  Lately we have been disciplining her with time-outs and they seem to be helping a little bit.  Even when she's bad we still love her and are very thankful that she has been in our lives for 2 years now!
Today she went for her 2 year well child check-up.  No more sitting on the scales to be weighed or laying down to be measured...  Caitlin stood on the big kid scale and weighed 26 pounds 8 ounces.  She also stood up against the wall to have her height measured, she was 34 inches tall.  She was in the 50th percentile for height and weight, but still in the 90th for head circumference. :)  Caitlin no longer enjoys going to the doctor... She knows that you go there when you are sick or to get "ow's".  So of course she cried most of the time we were there.  She did have to have her finger pricked to draw a little blood for a cholesterol check but she didn't get any immunizations.  BTW, her cholesterol was great, 127. :)  Her next scheduled check-up will be after she turns 3!

January 1, 2006 - The rest of 2005 was very eventful, but not altogether newsworthy.  Caitlin's intelligence has increased dramatically, and she is using it to her advantage.  She can say most 1-2 syllable words, recognize people and say their names, and is learning her colors and numbers.  She likes pretending with her stuffed animals and dolls, and tries to nurse them, feed them, and take them to the potty.  She likes watching Baby Einstein videos and Sesame Street, and is learning to sing along.  She can work interlocking puzzles, and can do her 24 piece Sesame Street puzzles with minimal help, if she can sit still long enough.  She has also become very independent.  She opens and closes doors as she pleases, can undress herself, kicks us out of the bathroom when she goes potty, changes DVD's and music by herself on the stereo, and causes lots of trouble getting into things she shouldn't.  We look forward to what the next year holds for her, but fear how her independence will run wild during the terrible two's!

September 22, 2005 - Caitlin is now 100% potty trained!  A week before Camryn was born she started having dry nights.  She still wakes up sometimes in the middle of the night to pee, but she calls for us and goes in the potty.  Uh oh's during the day are down to once or twice a week, and usually they happen on the way to the potty when she has gotten too interested in what she is playing with.  Since she has done so well at night, we graduated her to panties at night as well.  Hopefully we won't have to change the sheets too many times.  She has been napping in panties for over a month now.

September 15, 2005 - Caitlin became a big sister today!!!  Camryn Alexis Wright was born at WakeMed, while Caitlin slept soundly at Maura's house.  Caitlin was excited right away, and wanted to hold "Baby".  We probably let her hold Camryn more than we should, but Caitlin is very sweet.  We know she is going to be a great big sister!

September 1, 2005 - Over the past couple weeks Caitlin teeth count has increased by 3.  Her eye teeth have started breaking through, and the only one she is waiting on now is her bottom right.

August 3, 2005 - Caitlin had her 18 month well-baby check-up today!  She didn't have to get any immunizations, but she apparently still has bad memories about the place. ;)  Anytime the nurse or Dr. Hunt were in the exam room with us, Caitlin started freaking out.  :-/  That made it difficult for the nurse and Dr. Hunt to do their job, but she pulled through it.  Caitlin is in good health and is where she should be developmentally.  We also noticed that at least one eye-tooth was trying to poke it's way through her gums.  So, look for a tooth update soon!  Okay, so here is the part I know everyone has been looking forward to.  Caitlin's "official" 18 month statistics! ;)  She weighed 23 pounds 12 ounces and was 32 inches tall, pulling her into the 50th percentile for weight and 60th for height.  She has apparently been eating/gaining weight like a monkey because she hasn't been above the 30th percentile for weight since she was 6 months old!  Also, she is still a big head, in the 90th percentile again!

July 31, 2005 - Caitlin is 18 months old today!!  We "celebrated" by taking her to the play area in the mall and bought her a new baby Einstein DVD, Baby Wordsworth. We also got her pictures taken at Portrait Innovations today. Of course we spent way too much money, but that's what happens when you have such a beautiful daughter! :) In other news, her potty training is almost back on track after relapsing on our trip to Kentucky.  She is getting better about telling us that she needs to go by saying "uh oh", "pee pee", or just running to the bathroom.  Her speech is also improving, and it seems like she learns a new word every day! Word of the day: "Me!" She has a pediatrician appointment on Wednesday, so we'll post her stats then.

July 6, 2005 - We have been potty training Caitlin just at a month now. Well, until this weekend Caitlin wouldn't use her portable potty seat in public. I guess it suddenly clicked because she did great this weekend. We have had a few trial runs to Target or to a fast food place with no diaper on and she has done great! Also, she wouldn't poopy in her potty chair, until today! She has gone twice in it. ;) YAY!! She is also starting to give us a little more warning and "asking" us to take her to the bathroom. She was also dry after her nap, which is a first. I'm starting to feel like we might actually only have one set of diapers to change when Camryn comes. Except for night time diapers anyway... I think that might still be a while before she can last all night without peeing. :)

June 19, 2005 - Brad and I had to make a very important decision this week.  Cailtin's potty training has been frustrating to say the least.  So we had to decide if we needed to give her more time, or keep going with adjustments to our current plan.  She hadn't really gone in the potty at all until this weekend.  This weekend, we camped out in the bathroom, and kept a drink in Caitlin's hand all day.  On Saturday she made it to the potty three times, but still had mostly accidents (uh oh's).  But today was a different story.  She peed in the potty 7 times, with a lot less uh oh's.  She also seemed to be trying to go when she was sitting there, and understood what was going on much better.  Apparently our training over the past week and a half sank in more than we thought.  Still no poopy in the potty, but I'm sure that will come in its own time.

June 11, 2005 - Brad mentioned that we were going to decorate Caitlin's "big girl" room in butterflies.  Well, we started that transition today.  During the week we bought the quilt, sheet, some matching accessories for her room, and the biggie, paint!  Today we finished painting the first coat; we're expecting to be done with the main painting tomorrow.  I'm sure we'll need my mom to do a little touch-up on the ceiling and trim when my parents visit at the end of the month. ;)  I also made (read painted) a picture frame and small butterfly jewelry box to put on Caitlin's dresser.

June 8, 2005 - Every parent's fear is having 2 kids in diapers at the same time, so we decided to start Caitlin's potty training earlier than most,  We have bought her a potty chair, panties, pull up diapers, and some candy as rewards.  So far however, all she has managed to do is pee on the floor...  More updates later.

June 1, 2005 - Caitlin is back to having an even number of teeth. ;)  Her crooked smile should straighten out soon, at least until she gets even more teeth. Her tooth count is up to 12 with the addition of her bottom left lateral incisor.  I have a feeling that her four cuspids will be breaking through in the next few months...

May 11, 2005 - In preparation for Camryn's arrival, Caitlin got a room upgrade.  She was also getting aggravated at sleeping in her crib, so we moved her into a "big girl bed."  It is Jessica's old day bed, which we attached a toddler rail to.  She seems to like it much better than the crib.  We have plans to decorate her new room in butterflies.

May 10, 2005 - Another tooth!  Caitlin has obviously been teething like a monkey!  Today we found that her bottom left molar had come through.  You can feel just the tiniest bit of a sharp tooth, but it is there!  Guess she will be able to eat Quizno's sandwiches soon! ;)

May 7, 2005 - Caitlin has been chewing on her hands and gnawing on us as well, so we decided to check for more teeth...  Sure enough, she has her first set of molars on the top now!  That brings her teeth total to 10!  This will definitely improve her chewing ability.  In other news; in the past week, Caitlin has made other advances.  She has mastered the art of using a fork and loves feeding herself!  She is copying us when we talk to her and now says uh-oh appropriately and EIEI(O) when we sing "Old Macdonald."  She also surprised us today by taking off her shirt, all by herself.  The temperature in the house was only 68, but apparently it was too warm for her liking!

May 3, 2005 - Caitlin just turned 15 months!  So, of course she went to the doctor.  Caitlin got 4 immunizations and was as healthy as a horse. ;)  She weighed 21 pounds 4 ounces and was 30.5 inches tall.  She still has a monkey big head, it's 47.2 centimeters around!  We think that Caitlin is starting to recognize the pediatrician's office.  She cried from the moment we got there until we put her in her car seat to leave.  It's tough being so smart. ;)

April 6, 2005 - Caitlin has been coughing a little in her sleep lately. Last night she coughed for like 30 minutes around 1 am. We had noticed that she was getting more bottom teeth in the front, so we're pretty sure that is the reason. Well, I looked in her mouth this afternoon and yeah she is getting at least one molar too! Ouch. I will inspect her mouth again later to see if she is getting another one yet on her left side. Poor girl has had the same 6 teeth for over 4 months and now she is getting at least 3 more. Good thing babies don't remember teething!

March 4, 2005 - Monthly Weigh-In *20 pounds 2 ounces*
February 24, 2005 - Well, we already told you that Caitlin was a walker... But, now she is REALLY a walker!  She walks almost everywhere she goes now.  But, if she is walking towards something and falls, she just crawls the rest of the way. :)  Oh, and she can stop herself now and can even change direction while walking!

February 1, 2005 - No 1st birthday would be complete without a trip to the pediatrician.  Caitlin weighed in at 19lb 13oz, and was 29 inches long.   She received 2 vaccination shots and a clean bill of health.  The doctor said she could have 16oz of cows milk a day now, and also we could turn her carseat around in the next few days!

January 31, 2005 - Should We Call this the Monthly Weigh-In *19 pounds 12 ounces*

January 23, 2005 - Caitlin is a WALKER!!!!! Although she certainly is not a stopper, she will work on that... We officially upgraded her status today after she made a mental breakthrough, and overcame her fear of letting go. She walks best when we stand her up and let her walk to us, or from one of us to the other. Her record so far is 6 steps at once, but I'm sure that will be broken by the time most of you read this.

December 23, 2004 - Two Steps!  Well, she's definitely not walking, but Caitlin took two steps today!  She is very unsteady, but just so cute trying to be a little toddler!  Hopefully, this means she will really walk soon.  Meaning she will prefer walking to crawling...  But, somehow I doubt it. ;)

December 20, 2004 - Although we were hoping Caitlin would be walking by now, she has taken a break from the physical development and is focusing on the mental stuff. I guess we can't complain too much...  She has learned how to use her ring stacker, is standing on her own, waves hi and bye, gives a "five", and is exploring the house on her own. She also knows where her feet are, and lifts them up when you hold her socks up so you can put them on. We are so proud of all her accomplishments!

December 10, 2004 - Finally Another Weigh-In *18 pounds 0 ounces*

November 13, 2004 - After many nights of screaming, Caitlin has now increased her number of pearly whites to 6.  I'm not exactly sure when they pushed through the gums, but I do know that she didn't sleep well last weekend (so we are assuming that it was then)... :(  Her two new teeth are the upper lateral incisors.

November 6, 2004 - Whenever I Feel Like It Weigh-In *17 pounds 6 ounces*

November 2, 2004 - Today Caitlin went in for her 9 month well baby check-up.  The nurse measured her at 27.5 inches tall, 17 pounds 3 ounces, and with a head circumference of 45.5 centimeters.  We are sure she is taller though!  Dr. Ogrosky recently got married so we will now refer to her as Dr. Ogrosky-Hunt or just Dr. Hunt. :)  We were told that Caitlin is still as perfect as can be, but we all knew that anyway...  Caitlin got one regularly scheduled vaccine and she was also one of the lucky few to get a flu shot! :)  She wasn't too happy about it, but she shouldn't get the flu this year.

October 20, 2004 - After much thought and consideration, I have decided to rename the "Weekly Weigh-In."  She obviously isn't weighed every week; I got discouraged after she failed to gain even an ounce for over 5 weeks.  So, she will be weighed every now and then. If it's every week great, if not don't be disappointed... ;)

October 11, 2004 - What comes to mind when you hear the number 4?  If you said, "The number of teeth Caitlin has!" then you are absolutely right! (at least until she gets even more...)  Her upper right central incisor made it's grand appearance today!

October 10, 2004 - Caitlin doubled her vocabulary today, combining the new Da sound she has been making into DaDa.  She says it with an "a" sounding like the "a" in apple.  She is making a lot of other consonant sounds now too, so more words may be close behind.

September 29, 2004 - In the past, Caitlin's vocabulary consisted of a babbling of syllables, but today she said her first word, MaMa!!  Needless to say Jessica was thrilled.  She doesn't have any idea what the word means, but she has been repeating it all day.

September 14, 2004 - Caitlin was crawling around today, we looked over and she was sitting up!  Neither of us helped her, so I guess she did it on her own.  We watched her do it again the next time.  When she gets done crawling she gets onto her knees and "falls" back into a sitting position.  She does it so easily we almost didn't notice that it was something new!

August 21, 2004 - Add Caitlin to the list of crawlers that you know!  She has been creeping for 3 weeks now, but today she actually got her belly off of the ground and had her arms extended!  There are a couple of videos that show off her new mode of transportation.  Also, look for more in the future because she will only get better at it!  Besides crawling, Caitlin also made today the day to pull herself up to a standing position!  She crawled up to the stair and grabbed onto it, then lifted herself up onto her knees, and pulled her feet up to standing!  I'm sure she is tired now! Keep watching the news, she might be walking tomorrow... ;)

August 6, 2004 - Well, the doctor was wrong!  Caitlin IS getting a tooth!  I looked in her mouth today during a crawling session and saw the very top of one coming through her gums.  In case you are wondering, it is her bottom right central incisor that is making its grand appearance!  We will keep an eye on it and hopefully get a picture very soon.  It might be tough though because it is still so small and Caitlin is a wiggle-monkey...

August 5, 2004 - Caitlin took another trip to her favorite pediatrician today! ;) Caitlin is  heavier, longer, and has a bigger head, as expected. She was in the 50th percentile for weight.  At 16 pounds even, she'll be catching up with Kato in that department very soon...  Still in the 90th percentile for height, she was 2 feet, 3 inches, (27 inches).  Dr. Ogrosky was impressed with Caitlin's development.  Caitlin even showed off a little by "cruising" for the doctor!  Dr. Ogrosky checked in Caitlin's mouth for signs of teeth... so far nothing.  Luckily Caitlin only had to have 3 immunizations at this visit, which she recovered from very well.  Her next appointment will be in late October or early November, when she is 9 months old.

July 31, 2004 - HAPPY 6 MONTHDAY CAITLIN!!  Six months ago our lives were changed for the better when our daughter, Caitlin Elizabeth, was born!  The time has flown by, and in just six short months Caitlin has reached SO many new milestones!  Besides what can be seen in the pictures, she is picking up Cheerios and eating them by herself, and scooting herself across the floor.  We fear that she will be crawling very soon... ;)

June 18, 2004 - This week you may notice something new about Caitlin's pictures...  We got a new digital camera, so the pictures should look slightly different and have much better resolution.  Also, this camera has a flash, so the lighting shouldn't be a problem anymore. :)  We've also stopped posting zips of all of the pictures, due to the larger file size of the pictures.  We still have high resolution images, so if you would like any e-mailed to you, let us know which ones you want.  The old zips (Birth-Week 19) are still available by e-mail request. We have also started posting videos, which require Quick Time to view (there will be a link to this on the weekly pages).

June 12, 2004 - Weekly Weigh-In *14 pounds*

June 1, 2004 - Caitlin just turned 4 months, so we all know what that means... Yup, another visit to the doctor!  She continues to do VERY well, and we never get tired of hearing Dr. Ogrosky tell us so.  She tipped the scale at 13 pounds 11 ounces, which is 60th percentile.  She continues to be a tall monkey and measured 25.25 inches, 90th percentile.  Of course Caitlin wasn't too happy after receiving 4 shots, but she calmed down quickly and was in a pretty good mood in time for her 4 month pictures from JCPenney's.  If you think her other professional pictures have been good, just wait till you see these... You will not be disappointed! ;)

May 31, 2004 - This week we began teaching Caitlin alternative ways to eat.  We started off with pumped milk in a bottle, and the next day gave her milk mixed with rice cereal.  Caitlin proved once again that eating is one of her best skills. She took to both right away, and we have been gradually increasing the cereal to milk ratio.  She said she wants a steak dinner next week, and at this rate she might get it... LOL Guess she takes after her mom.

May 26, 2004 - Caitlin is now a sitter-upper! :)  If she is positioned, Caitlin can now sit by herself, without support.  She falls after a few seconds, but she is working hard to keep herself upright!

May 22, 2004 - Weekly Weigh-In *13 pounds*

May 7, 2004 - This week we are on a "tour" of Kentucky! Our schedule includes Bowling Green through Saturday the 8th, Greenville and Owensboro on the 9th, Lexington Monday through Friday, and Ashland until Sunday morning. Hopefully we will get to see everybody while we are in the state. Send us an e-mail if you want to see us! Unfortunately we won't be able to post pictures or update the webpage until at least next Sunday. Since we aren't going to post any pictures, I'll let you know how she is doing. Caitlin has started reaching for objects, and likes holding onto whatever she can grab! She is getting better at rolling over, and can usually get from her tummy to her back after only a few tries. Caitlin is still growing fast, and we can't wait to find out her "official" stats at her next doctor's appointment!

May 1, 2004 - Looks like Caitlin will be a belly sleeper now!  She rolled over from her back to her stomach today, many many times!  I guess her bald spot will finally start filling in soon! :)

April 24, 2004 - Weekly Weigh-In *11 pounds 13 ounces*

April 19, 2004 - Caitlin went on her first road trip this weekend!  After Brad got off of work on Thursday we drove to Lexington.  Caitlin did a great job in the car even though we didn't arrive until 1:30 am!  While we were there Caitlin met two more of her uncles and more of her extended family at her Uncle Jeremy's wedding.  We had a great time and were sad to leave Lexington on Sunday to head back to Raleigh.  We didn't have our scale to weigh Caitlin on this weekend, so we will continue the Weekly Weigh-In next Saturday!

April 10, 2004 - While playing on her belly today, Caitlin rolled over from her belly to her back.  She didn't really know what she did, and we couldn't get her to do it again, but it was still the first time :)

April 3, 2004 - Weekly Weigh-In *11 pounds*

April 1, 2004 - Caitlin had yet another doctor's appointment today.  She weighed a whopping 11 pounds 6 ounces and was 23 inches long!  This time she was in the 90th percentile for weight and height, for her age! Dr. Ogrosky continues to tell us how well Caitlin is doing and that we make her job as a doctor very easy.  Poor Caitlin had to have 4 immunizations!  No, this is not an April Fools joke, there were 4 shots. :(  Her next appointment is when she is 4 months old, on June 1st.

March 6, 2004 - Weekly Weigh-In *9 pounds 14 ounces*

March 1, 2004 - Caitlin had a doctor's appointment today.  She weighed 9 pounds 14 ounces, and was 21.5 inches long, putting her in the 75th percentile for both.  Dr. Ogrosky said she was doing very well, and was completely healthy.  Caitlin didn't mind the checkup much, except for the shot.  I held her afterwards though, and she calmed down in a couple seconds.  Her next appointment is April 1st.  (When we weighed her after getting back from the doctor, she only weighed 9 pounds 11 ounces on our scale.)

January 31, 2004 - Caitlin was born today at 4:42 in the morning!  At my doctor's appointment yesterday morning, the doctor stripped my membranes and noted that I was already 2cm dilated.  Although I didn't notice any strong contractions earlier, my water broke at around 12:45 am.  After I took a shower Brad called the doctor and we were told  to get to the hospital when we could.  We arrived at WakeMed shortly before 2 am.  Before we could be admitted, the hospital staff had to make sure I was truly in labor so I got checked out in Triage first.  Around 3:15 I was 4 cm dilated and we were admitted to the birthing room.  At this point I was getting pretty uncomfortable and tired of sitting in bed, so I asked the nurse to allow me to labor in the shower.  She reluctantly agreed since she hadn't monitored Caitlin or me since we arrived in the birthing room, but told us that she would be back in 30 minutes to check on us.  In the shower I was laboring pretty hard, but had no idea how much progress I had made.  When the nurse came back, I had a difficult time walking back to the bed from the bathroom.  Once I finally made it there, she checked me and I had already dilated to 10 cm!  It was time to push!  After 40 minutes of pushing Caitlin arrived!  She was 21 1/4 inches long and weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces, quite a bit bigger than I had anticipated...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAITLIN ELIZABETH WRIGHT!!
